Experience the entire island (4-5 hrs.)

Mykonos might be a small granite island in the middle of the Aegean sea but its beautiful beaches and landscape combined with its all white flat roofed Cycladic architecture make it stand out as a world wide renowned  destination.

Its a cosmopolitan vibe that the island has that makes many visitors visit more than once or decide to invest in making it there summer paradise by buying or building a house of there own.

Other than its breath taking views and impressive architecture the Island has a rich history connecting the ancient with the present, the glamour of today with traditions and culture that go far into the past.

On this tour we discover some of the most picturesque spots of the island. 

We  drive to some of the islands most beautiful beaches on its south side protected from its north winds. 

Ano Mera town, the more relaxed of the two towns located almost in the islands center, at a higher elevation not visible from the sea and well protected. There hides the islands biggest monastery and the most ornately decorated. Its from the 15th century dedicated to the virgin marry and worth the visit. Just a few steps out of the monastery is the town square surrounded by traditional restaurants offering local dishes and coffee.

On our drive you will get a clear sense of the island and how it differs from west to east and north to south!

In the western side you will witness the cosmopolitan aspects of Mykonos town which attracted  tourists already  over eighty years ago .The dense and impressive architecture that surrounds it is where some of the most popular spots for events, parties and development are because they are close to the town that never sleeps. Its two harbours and international airport are all in the west of the island.

To the western most point saint John’s area where you will get a  view of Delos the UNESCO site with a history that goes back thousands of years!

The light house at the islands northwestern most point, standing there since 1891 giving us panoramic views of the islands to the north west surrounding Mykonos, an impressive spot for some of the best sunsets on the island!

After visiting beaches from west to east you will see parts that are more hidden and relaxed as the island is very different from side to side.

As I give you the details and history of Mykonos its past and present will fall into place. The water dams that provide public water , the reasons why the architecture is unique,and  its use and all the questions that you had before we began our driving tour will have  been answered visually and intellectually. As we  end our drive having seen the most important and hidden parts surrounding the whole island of course  in a relaxed flexible way having made our refreshment, picture and bathroom stops.

There is also the option of combining the “Mykonos town walking tour” which can only be done by walking thru Mykonos town since  no public vehicle is allowed in the town because the streets  are very narrow only for pedestrians!  The “Discovering Mykonos Island tour” which is a driving tour of the whole island using back roads and the main road as well to also visit Ano Mera town.
